Standards for Digital Citizen Class

(from the National Educational Technology Standards created by the International Society for Technology Education)

In this course, students will use technology to

  1. create knowledge and demonstrate creative thinking
  2. gather, evaluate, and use information
  3. communicate and collaborate with others to support personal learning and to contribute to other people's learning
  4. advocate and practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology
  5. identify trends and forecast possibilities


To accomplish these objectives, students will:

  1. use proper online etiquette
  2. research a career field or serious social issue that they are passionate about
  3. create a network with leaders in their chosen career field or serious social issue
  4. properly cite online sources in order to avoid plagiarism
  5. create an infographic about a trend in their chosen field and write a forecast for the trend based on research
  6. produce a blog that establishes themselves as a subject-matter expert and builds a positive online reputation/digital footprint vital for future college and career endeavors
